Gympie, Queensland, Floods

Apparently we have had three floods that have covered the town in four years.
This year alone, we have been completely flooded twice.

These photos are courtesy of Queensland Police. ( The Boys in Blue.)

Here is the road flooded.
Under is the same spot when normal.

Before...then flooded.

Again....

Words cannot express how this feels...
BUT, I firmly believe we are in the Last Days.
Are You Ready?

"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despises of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;"
2 Timothy 3:1-4

How Majestic is the Lord!

How great is our God...
This morning my heart was heavy with sadness.
I had discovered a discrepancy in something I had considered truth, and now felt let down.
During a long drive to pick up some of my books, I talked about my grief to the Lord.
Who better??

Then on my return to my town I decided to go to a different church, from the one I attend.
I wanted quiet time.
I wanted to pray and feel close to the Lord.

As you will note, I never make a recognition of belonging to any particular church.
My reason for this is because as a Child of God, I accept all who worship, The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
I don't believe in putting a label on that.

Anyhow, on entering the church, a funeral was in procession.
Thank God it is a large church because I wasn't dressed somberly.
In fact I was wearing colorful hippy garb...
I worshiped along with those present, and sang along with the hymns.
Then I noticed the Salvation Army were leading the music, yet this was not their church.
I was surprised, yet thrilled to see two different Christian denominations sharing together.

I waited for the family and friends to exit before I got up to go.
Outside on the footpath, was a lady Salvation (Sally) Officer.
I felt to approach her and tell her how thrill I was to see the both faith's together in harmony.
What a surprise was in store for me!!!
I didn't recognize her face, but her name displayed on her name tag, was that of an acquaintance.

What an amazing thing to happen!! Or rather, how great is our God!!
My mother sent me this lady's story, and what a STORY it is, while I was living in Tennessee.
Mum phoned me, full of excitement, she had purchased the book and was so amazed by it, she bought it to share with me.
The Special Lady's name is Major Joyce Harmer, and she is now a retired Sally Officer.
I read about her life and then sent her an email, to say how much I enjoyed it.
She responded by a phone call in return, from Sydney, Australia to TN, U.S.A..
Today I met Major Joyce in person.
And she is every bit the ANGEL I expected her to be.

I highly recommend her book, and part of the sales go back to the Salvation Army to help others.

Where to buy this book:

Another amazing thing... I used to live in Sydney, and now live in Gympie, Queensland.
Major Joyce now lives in Sydney, but originally comes from Gympie.
She was also a registered nurse..
And in all the places to meet her, it was in a totally different denomination..

Working in Sydney Courts and accompanying a woman charged with murdering her children.

Sign Posts... Give directions...
If you want a SIGN POST to Jesus, read your Bible. Don't just keep it for show.
And read of Major Joyce Harmers travels, through a life of serving God and others.

Valentines Day

I have never had much to do with Valentine's Day.
In fact I think we have far too many celebration days.
For me they are basically a date when we look to having something more we don't really need.
But this time Ray and I decided to go out for breakfast, we don't do that very often.
So its a treat.

I had helped out with a church wedding a couple of weeks ago.
As a thank you, the other ladies and I were given a voucher, for The Brown Jug.
So I thought it was a nice day to use it.
The atmosphere was lovely with old fashioned wallpaper depicting yesteryear scenes.
Ray trimmed his beard short and I have had my hair colored....
We both felt fresh and new.
We did nothing extravagant or lavish, but it was nice.

A Student Again

I told you all I wanted to do something new this year..
Some studies..
Well, I told my Pastor and he told me, there was a wonderful course he would like me to be a part of.
Soo..... Thats where I am..
Learning more about Theology.
And the value of Worship.
At present we have just begun and there is so much work to complete...
It doesn't matter how much you think you know.
When you begin something new, you realize how much you don't know..
We never stop learning, and I love it.
Who do I worship? The Father God, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Three in One..

Matthew28:19 " Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

 Matthew 3:16-17
"As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water.
At that moment heaven was opened,
and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him.
And a voice(God) from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Forgive Me Please.

My heart aches with all the sadness in this world.
And I believe, worse still, are the people who deliberately choose to do evil.
I recently received an email from someone who sincerely believed its contents.
It was horrible, with many burnt dead bodies strewn about.
The gist behind this email was that Muslims were killing Christians.
I pondered whether I should send it on.
I was going to delete it. It made me sick to my stomach.
Then without praying about it first, I sent the horrid thing to my friends.
I played right into satans hands.

How often do we all do things that later we regret.
Yes, I have prayed now, ..... "Lord forgive me"..
Yet I still wonder, how many hearts did I hurt by sending it on?
If you were one who received this email from me, then I am sincerely sorry.

From across the world, from me to you, please know in my heart, I would never intentionally harm you.

The Best Places in the World to Raise a Family.

This morning in church we were introduced to the Chaplain from the school which is situated closest to our church.
Jocelyn was the name of the Chaplain who spoke and told of some of her roles in supporting the students and teachers with Gods love and direction.
The School Chaplain is a safe person for young people to connect with, providing a listening ear, caring presence, and message of hope. They care for students struggling with a wide range of issues, including: family problems, confusing relationships, friendship issues, peer pressure, self-esteem issues, bullying and stress and anxiety.
Almost every school in Queensland, has a Chaplain, the one's who don't, have a position vacant.              They are paid by the government to be the spiritual leader in that school.

The Chaplain, whether male or female, is known endearingly as "Chappy"
I also discovered that Australia is one of the top ten countries in the world to raise children, and have a good quality of life.
Where is your country situated in these STATS ?

The Best Places Stats : CLICK HERE
Does this surprise you ?
It did me....
Belgium is the number 1 country.... Well done Belgium!!!

We have NO police in our schools or security checks of who comes and goes.
They are open schools with large classroom windows and huge play area's.
There are huge covered area's for outside sun protection.
Children in every school, whether private of public wear a uniform. Hats are also worn outdoors for sun protection. The government assists low income families at the beginning of each school year (late January) with a bonus of money to provide for uniforms, books and school fee's.
