A Language Barrier

Since I love reading the stories Shelley shares I thought I would share this one of mine.

It was 2004 and not long after I had married Ray, at Pigeon Forge in Tennessee.

Ray had never been to Australia and had many pre-consieved idea's about it.
"Them thar Or-stra-lians are behund the times,"  I'd hear him say.
He was ready to visit, but was very certain he never wanted to leave his birth land.
That was until he saw all our untamed landscapes and casual way of life.

I owned a home a short walk from Dickie Beach, at beautiful Caloundra, Queensland... It was one of five different beach along that stretch of wild coastline.

On our first day in Oz and walking around buying groceries from the local supermarket, I announced I had to buy THONGS for the beach.
"No you're not!" Ray said..
"What!," I was astounded, ""how come?"
This was NOT like Ray, he is so placid, and here he was telling me, NO THONGS!
"Yes I am," I insisted. "There is no way I am going down to the beach without THONGS."
This seemed to get his temper up....and boy, has Ray got a temper when things don't go right!

"You ain't abuying no thang!" he insisted! with everyone turning around to hear that southern accent which couldn't be missed as he was yelling by this time.
I didn't know what he was going on about, what on earth was wrong with me buying and wearing thongs?
Finding them on a self I stopped to pick them up.
"See!"  I told him, "whats wrong with wearing these!"
"What the"..... he blubbered.    "They're not thangs, them thar are flop flops....

I couldn't stop laughing when I realized what he had been talking about.
We Ozzies say thongs but in the U.S. they are called Flip Flops....
So funny.... No wonder he was getting so heated!!
There is NO WAY I would ever be seen in the THONG, that he was talking about..
But a pair of Thongs, now that is a different matter..

Only Him

Proverbs 3:6
"In all your ways acknowledge HIM and HE will direct your paths."

Coming though what I have in the last two months reminds me of the above scripture.
Sometimes even though we  think we are walking Gods way, we are not completely.
At least I haven't been.

I listened to a sermon on selfishness by an English Pastor...
And my own selfish and self seeking desires stared me straight in the face.
I have been well for over a week now and the turning point came when I recognized how ugly I am.

Then for two days I wrestled with self loathing, and I sank right to the pit of despair.
I could see myself so clearly. My whinging and seeking for self first.
I have to write this, not so all of you will tell me I am not so bad.
But to admit I am a sinner, and no better than the very worst.

Please Lord, let me use the two ears I have, to listen more to the needs of others.  Hold my mouth closed, so I speak less about my own needs and listen more to the needs of others.

Turn me from an ugly caterpillar into a butterfly for your use..

Life Goes On

Well I have had three days of feeling well.    Woooooooooooo Hooooooooo !!
The hard part has been the smell of food and eating things that didn't make me feel ill.
I am still waiting for an appointment to have an MRI taken of my liver.
But living where we do here in northeast Queensland, we don't have the choices of
medical expertise as those who live closer to the big cities.

Besides that, I am blessed to have many wonderful prayer warriors who have continued to partition before the Lord on my behalf. Thank you so very much.

I have learned to live more carefully as far as not overdoing housework and being very careful of what I eat. Thank God for my own medical knowledge.

Our three little dogs (treasures) watch me closely, sitting near by and seemingly aware that all is not as it should be.
Monty, the little old man of the group turn's eleven this year. He takes no nonsense from the girls
who try to stir him up for doggie play.
The girls, Mille and Marley run and play with each other and when Monty gets cross with them, they give him a wide berth.

Although they have a bed each, its wonderful to see how they cuddle up together. Our winter nights have been cooler,  although not as cold as some of you experience..

The sun shines warmly during the day so I like to open the doors and windows to capture the
wonderful healing 02.

Its great to feel almost normal again.

"Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD."
Psalm 150:6
