Reading, The WORD of GOD

I never used to read the Bible..
I found it difficult to understand.
So although I was given the WHITE one in the picture below, I left it unread for years.
After all, didn't they read it and teach from it in church?  I was sure that was all I needed to know.
Then I got given a paperback New Testament.
Okay then, I'll try that! It was simplified and I was able to understand, so I began to read....... and it opened up a whole new world to me.
From then on I wanted to understand more...
After all, when you love someone with all your heart, you want to know EVERYTHING about them! Don't you??
And that's how I came to know Jesus in a personal relationship.  And that's what God wants.....He wants us to worship Him, in a personal way!

We also need to be very careful what version we read, as some are Deceptive....and Perverted.
Remember, Gods 'WORD' explained by the Apostle Paul say's.
"But I am not surprised. Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light."
(Taken from the N.L.T. Bible    in 2 Corinthians 11:14)

An example of this is the New Internation Version.
Example: from Colossians 1:14.
New Internation Version.... "In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
Where the King James Bible says, "In whom we have redemption through His blood."
The N.I.V. versions, OMITS......THE BLOOD!

So, as in the picture of my Bibles, I have a few versions now. AND, I cross reference.

2 Timothy 3: 16 states, "All scripture is God-Breathed, and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness!"

If The Word of God is God-Breathed then I am blessed to be able to read it, and, I treasure it.

Years ago I was informed:
Clean Bible, dirty Christian.
Dirty Bible, clean Christian..... It's the oldest book in the world. Read it.

  1. My bible is still pretty new, but I'm guessing it'll probably be in shatters when I'm grey!! I agree, if a bible is worse for wear, obviously it's been used quite a lot over the years!

  2. I enjoyed reading your blog. The best Bible that I have found to read and understand is the "English" Bible. If I were Spanish, it would be in that language, or German, that language etc. Most of the translations are accurate to reflect what God's Word is.

Some folks stick with the KJV that was written back in 1611. It's hard to read, but still a very good translation. I enjoy reading the New Kings James Bible. It's easier for me to read and understand. What ever translation of the Bible works for you, that is the one you need to read. God's blessings, Lloyd

  3. Hello Cassie, I had one that fell to pieces...I know you love yours. SMALK

Hello Lloyd,Thank you for popping in. I like the easier translations, yet if I have a discrepancy I always check with the K.J.version....The New One is very good also. It so important to read Gods Word for ourselves. So many depend on just what they hear.... they never read. That was once me. God Bless you.
