Regrets

Regrets, we all have them don't we.

If only....I hadn't said what I did, I wish I could turn back time.

I could have been kinder to that person, why didn't I think?

If I had my life to live over again, with hindsight, I would never make the
same mistakes twice (God willing).

Yet life is full of doing what we'd rather not.

The Apostle Paul spoke it well when he declared in Romans 7:15-20

"I do not understand what I do.
For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.
As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.
I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.
For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.
Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

So sad!  While we reside in the earthly tent, no matter how hard we try, no matter how good we try to be, we will at times, do what we hate.

But we cannot allow our minds to be taken over by these regrets.
If we do, they will rule our lives and tell us, we will never, ever, be good enough.

The truth is, we never will be good enough.....
But Jesus, Gods son, is!
We are made righteous ONLY through believing in what He has done for us.

The Apostle Paul said!
"Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law." (Galatians 3:23-25)

SO the Good News Is......from the mouth of St Luke.
He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—
You and your household." Acts 16:30-31...

Praise God....SO, don't hold onto those regrets....
But....
Always do your best, asking forgiveness with repentance.
And thank God, with a grateful heart.

  4. Oh that picture is so beautiful - I'd love to go there.
After you say and mean you're sorry - I tell my grandson God - just is like an eraser - it's all gone.

  5. What a beautiful, and helpful, post Mary. I can't remember things, sometime, but I did purchase the book you recommended Depression, The Way Out. I so believe in the holistic approach to health and have started the vitamin and supplements I need and am already feeling better. I am still trying to add all my old favorites to my list and can't remember is I touched base with you or not. So I am here now. Thanks for your wonderful words and today is my Hour of Adoration day and it has become my anchor in my week. Blessings.

  6. I completely agree with what you wrote here, and of course, with Paul's wise words too.
Let us know how your book is coming along, please.
I am writing my 2d book and it is a slow process toward publication, isn't it?

  7. Another great post! I've been as guilty as anyone at times of overdoing the regret thing, but time spent on regrets is just as wasted as time spent asking "Why?". We can't undo the past, and by the time we can learn the why, it probably won't matter to us anymore.

  9. I enjoyed your post. I'm impressed by all you have done in your life. Most of my the time the only thing I regret is if I hurt someone's feelings. I'm also retired. I need to start doing Spiritual Sundays again. I see you do. Doylene

  11. We all look back on regrets. The Holy Spirit as our helper, needs us to recognise these, otherwise, pride would prevail.
My regrets are many, not because I have done much but often because I could have perhaps done more.I regret some of my life choices. I regret how I have handled some situations.
However, beyond all of this I must conclude..."This is Gods will concerning me."
As..There is a time under the Heavens for all things.. God Bless you all this day, wherever you are and whatever you do.

  13. A wonderful post and message as always.
Everyone has regrets in their life, some big, some small. We try to learn by them but to know we are always forgiven by Him is such a deep, deep comfort.
    Bless you dear Crystal Mary.
