The Big Wet * Queensland Floods

Australia is a Country, Island and a Continent.
Many people do not realise the size of it.

It is approximately the size of the United States.
Yet we have fewer states.
Queensland as you will see in the map is a large state.
With an area of 1,727,000 square kilometres
Queensland is the second largest state in Australia, exceeded only in size by Western Australia.
Queensland is nearly five times the size of Japan.
Seven times the size of Great Britain.
And,  two and a half times the size of Texas.

At this present time, two thirds of Queensland is under water, and it is raining hard again.
We live in a flood zone.
However, as yet, our town has missed the floods.
Yet it may only be a matter of time.

Recent Weather Warnings

Flood Warning - Condamine-Balonne Rivers
Flood Warning - Fitzroy River
Severe Weather Warnings

I don't like floods, I grew up with them.
However, its best to see the positive side.
How wonderful it is to have today's technology and be pre warned.
We have much to be thankful for.

Not so our wild life.

"God is our refuge and strength,

an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging."
Psalm 46: 1-3

  1. Oh Crystal Mary, I will pray for your home and your lovely country. I had no idea it was as bad as half of Queensland being under water... i.e the equivalent of all the state of Texas and then some... That is immense.
    Psalm 46... absolutely!
Many blessings for protection and...for the rain to stop falling for now,
    Ann

  2. I knew there was a large area affected. I knew you lived on the east coast. You are right, must look at the positive side. Things will get better.

  3. I am thinking of you all in Australia when I see the news on TV about the floods, and now there are snakes and crocodiles too! I pray that there won't be major health problems as so often happens when water supplies become polluted. God bless and protect you and all your family, Crystal Mary.

  4. Thanks for giving a brief description of Australia. I had no idea it was so big! From the size on the map it looks small.
I am very happy to hear that you are not affected by the floods and I will pray for protection for you, others and the wildlife.
Elijah, in accordance with God's will, prayed for no rain and it did not rain and then again prayed for rain, and the rain did come. Ask God for direction on how to pray and then follow where He leads. For as you quoted in Psalm 46 1:3 God is our refuge and Luke 11:10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

God Bless you Crystal Mary and know your I am praying with you.

Dear Phillip, Health is the main issue for those in the worst hit area's. As for the croc's and snakes... hopefully there will be no problems. Last Big Wet one croc ended up in someones swimming pool.

Dear C of God, Yes Oz is a big country, Yes prayers had gone up to break the drought and with those prayers we got the floods..still I haven't heard of many life losses. Thank you for your prayers.

  7. Oh Crystal Mary how my heart brings tears to my eyes when I think of all you are going through, snow in december, floods and what ever is yet to come. God says he will never again cover the world with water but man is not God and he must endure all sorts of things that are his own doing. Google haarp and the floods in Australia, you may be surprised.
With love and sincere blessings for 2011 from boiling Cape town.

  9. Having gone thru a flood...I can feel the pain of those who experiance it first hand. The aftermath and expense take a toll. My prayers are with you.

A few things I never understood..why does man build so close to water and then cry "foul" when disaster strikes?(those with ocean front property) OR Why build a house on or near a known earthquake fault line and be so surprized when the house comes tumbling down?(and expect the government to step in and rebuild for the tennent because of no insurance.

Its as if humans defy nature...which Almighty God controls.

  10. If the rain is any sign of God's future outpouring of grace in your region, then I would expect to the greatest blessings to come.

But I will continue to pray for you and the wild-life...mercy, peace, love...and an ark to carry you through.

PS I just listened to Heidi Baker, a missionary to Mozambique. They have had severe drought in their region. In prayer, she heard the Lord tell her to command the rains to come. And they did--within minutes. Maybe you can do the same in reverse? I can tell from reading your words, you have great faith--larger than the size of a mustard seed. God hears and knows and answers prayer from his children. Bless you, Daughter of the Most High!
