Do we all WORSHIP IDOLS?

The worshipping of Idols is something I never thought that I might be guilty of.

I am not American yet have always admired General Robert E. Lee. Perhaps because I love history and have taken a great interest in the Civil War.

God gave us commandments and the second of those is the following.

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God. Exodus. 20:6

(Sadly, the Catholic church has deleted this one from their Bible.)

Ahh, so we see that we are not to make images. How many statues do you suppose are situated in countries around the world??

I have seen them in many places and never seen the wrong, until lately.

How clever is satan? He plays on our vulnerability.  We say, but, we just have these states of famous people to remind us of them... Yes! True, BUT we also venerate them don't we?

The word VENERATE means... to revere, reverence, worship, and adore all mean to honor and admire profoundly and respectfully. Venerate implies a holding as holy or sacrosanct because of character, association, or age.

What else do we unknowingly and not deliberately worship?

Our country, Our home, Our family, Our Car.... so many things.

HERE is the First Commandment.
