God our Refuge

This photo is of my husband Ray, pictured here in 1965.
He grew up in east Tennessee..... a keen sportsman and well liked at school.
His father passed on to Glory when he was thirteen years old, leaving him as head of the home.
His mother depended on him and he never let her down.

At eighteen Ray joined the Marine Corps and headed out to boot camp in California.
He served and was wounded in Vietnam and still carries many of his emotional and physical scars.
He served his country and always defended what was right.
Ray's mother was very proud of him, and deserved to be.
As a mother her morals reflected in the conduct of her son.
Ray believes in God and His promises to him.
My prayer today is, that everyone who reads this realises how special they are to their Father in Heaven...
Don't give up, keep going, do the right thing in life, and God will reward you if you belong to Him.

  1. There needs to be a "like" button on blogger like on Facebook. Sometimes we don't have the words but just want to say..."I like this." :)

  7. crystal mary, this was precious! it's such a blessing to hear women talk about their husbands in such a positive and uplifting way. i can't imagine losing a parent when he was still so young himself, but stepped up to the plate and took on the responsibility of the family.
you've got to be so terribly proud of him!!
many hugs and lots of love coming your way from a grateful friend :)

  11. What a great post about your husband and God's love. I sometimes think of the challenges our war veterans face in terms of physical and emotional scars of battle. It can't be easy and they receive too little thanks. Please thank him from me.

  12. Very nice, when he looks back today what does he think of those photos? Hard to believe it was that many years ago, seems like yesterday to me too! Nice presentation with scripture as always...

  13. This post is such a beautiful one...in between the few words you have written one feels the love, the pride, the appreciation you have for your husband.

The pictures, and the Psalm 91 frame, they all fit in so beautifully into this post, a true work of art.

I just love the way blogger lets us do that - each post we publish is like a page of a virtual book!

And the thread running throughout, unifying all the elements you have put in here is the thought, HE MAKES ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL IN HIS TIME.

    Yes, indeed. Thanks for sharing.

    Love
