Protection Beyond Understanding.

Ray decided we were due for a day out.
Time for just us.
So the Harley came out and he polished it up.

We are getting to old for this I thought.
But, it was still a good idea.

The road we took is a busy fast one.
One where huge lumber semi's fly along.
I'm terrified of those trucks, so I prayed we had no problem with any today.
Not long on the way a monster was roaring up behind us.
Ray had to to go very fast to keep in front and safe.
I hung on and prayed.
I prayed for safety and I thanked the Lord for all His goodness to us.
Suddenly I saw in my mind, our bike with a flat tyre?
How silly?
I shook the thought away and kept a close eye on the revision mirror and that truck looming nearer.
Well, eventually it turned off after following us some 40klm.
Thank God I sighed.
We soon arrived at our destination.
It was hot and we parked and went to get a drink.

Returning, guess what?
The bike had a flat tyre.

Can you believe it?

I wonder if the Lord had not planted it in my mind to pray.
What would have happened to us??
We may have been another road fatality!

Something we all need to realise.
Our days are numbered and only the Lord knows when we will meet him.
We always need to be ready.

"Show me, O LORD, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life."
Psalm 39:4

"A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps."
                                                  Proverbs 16:9

  3. Hi Mary! I love your blog, I think it would be fun to own a Harley, it is a fantasy of ours. Thank you for visiting my blog and your comment. I will have to check out the site you mentioned about the sepia photo. It sounds like my kind of place. It seems you and I have so much in common. You mentioned Rogersville, Tennessee in your profile. Tomorrow morning at 4 am we leave for Knoxville, Tennessee, to look for a house. I am originally from Clinton, TN.

Thanks again! BTW, my husband is Clint who commented right above me :-)

  8. I also know I would be afraid on a motorcycle. My friend had an accident, the bike went on its side and her leg was scraped up pretty good. So may the Lord keep you safe when riding. Thank you for viewing my pictures. Pictures are treasures that we catch in time and that space is no more, so we enjoy seeing them. Have a nice weekend.

  14. You go, girl!!! You look very cool as a biker chick! My husband had a Honda motorcycle when I met him, he had owned many in his life, it was a wild streak that I found exciting!! During our courtship, he taught me to ride it. He managed his cousin's motorcycle shop for a while. God was surely watching over you!!!!

  16. I doubt if we know the smallest percentage of the times the Lord has protected us from harm, though most of us remember a FEW.

  24. G'day Crystal Mary,

Besides getting the flat tyre, I hope your day out together was still enjoyable. How wonderful it is to be riding in the breeze on the back of a Harley. My neighbour has a Harley too. Very cool photo of you both! Do you belong to the Ulysses Club? I remember how nice they all were to me when I was visiting Ayers Rock.

I'm glad you arrived home safely. Praise God for His love and protection!

    Blessings, Kerrie

  26. I wonder how many times the Lord prompts us to pray and we avoid a tragedy. O how many times He has protected us, and we do not even realize it.
    Blessings
