The Flame Tree

This tree is called  a Delonix Regia, or  'flame of the forest'.  .

At present  trees are blooming all over our town.
Some are saplings while others  flower on only part of the tree.

The one in this photo sits on council land at the side of the cemetery on the way to Ray's golf club.
I have never seen one as happy or healthy....

The first of December heralded summer in Australia.
And  with the trees flowering everywhere I am beginning to feel a hot bush Christmas in the air.

Last year was a solemn time for all due to the floods.
This year it seems will be very different.

Only..

My son Peter will be working away, hundreds of miles from home.
He is a coach captain to the mines in far North Queensland.
The rest of us we will be thinking and praying for Peter not to be by himself on Christmas Day.

The holidays are a joy for many,  yet a sad time for the lonely....

"Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have,
for such sacrifices are pleasing to God."
Hebrews 13:16

  4. What a beautiful tree. In South Africa we have lots of the purple Jacaranda's. Pretoria, the capital, had more than 100,000 at last count, a veritable Jacaranda forest.

  12. The tree is absolutely stunning, I LOVE it. Prettier than any decorated Christmas tree!!! I have never seen one before. Your son, is this job in mines like underground mines?? What is it that he does? So sad you won't be able to be together at the holidays.

  14. Spectacular tree specimen. The leaves and trunk remind me of the Poinciana.
Trusting you and all your family will have a Blessed Christmas.

  15. Dear Crystal Mary, May joy be the order of the day! We are certainly being very spoilt with colour this Summer. The specimen you have in the photo is actually a Royal Poinciana - as you know I am a keen gardener and a fan of the native Illawarra Flame Tree. Their flowers are slightly larger and more round. I'm so lucky I get to pick up the freshly fallen buds each day. They look ever so beautiful in a bowl, then I keep them for pot pourrie. I keep meaning to post a blog about them since they are one of my favourite trees. Grace to you dear friend. Kerrie

  16. OH How Beautiful!
Just yesterday, as i mentioned our experience here in the Northern Hemisphere, i wondered what it might be like where you are . . the answer is, MAGNIFICENT! I am so entirely blessed to have you for a chum.

So, besides the lonely - I have one lady in our congregation whose daughter passed on - in some places there is factored into the services acknowledgement for those in a time of mourning - but, it isn't a natural part of most Christian Services . . . now i learn - besides the lonely - the many in our world needing comfort must be kept in mind . . . . my learning curve is steep - and yet, i find plenty of company - the Holy One, ever present - and few - AWESOME people of Understanding . . . this would be YOU.

I give thanks for you in the world.

    Love & Love,
    -g-

    1. Thank you. I am not proficient in flora, yet I was told the name I gave it, and trust the source as reliable. I have now changed the name, to what you say it is.
