Mary's Boy Child - by Harry Belafonte

I love this older version.
It is so sensitive....
Have you ever thought how old Mary was when the Angel visited her?
It is supposed she was between 12-14years...very young indeed.
Young to have not been afraid when the Angel visited her.
Young to be brave enough to risk a stoning for expecting a child when not married.
Young to have such a complete faith in God.
Young to stand firm in that faith.

In Mary's own Words she confesses:
"My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices
In God My Saviour."
Luke  Chap 1 Verse 46.

Only a sinner needs a savour, yet here we read Mary confesses to her own imperfection.
What a wonderful young woman.
No wonder God chose her, as the mother of Jesus.

As a nurse I know a child mainly has the same blood grouping of its father.
The blood in Jesus, came from the Father.

  5. Beautiful. I thought I had all my favorite songs on my playlist. Wrong. I'd forgotten this one. I now have it on my list.

What an amazing girl Mary was. She could have been stoned or put away quietly, but she accepted what God desired for her life - without question.

If we could just do the same thing. Yes, Lord Yes!

  6. So beautiful.. she was amazing in everyway..

  7. Don't you wonder if you could have been as brave as her? sandie

  8. Truthfully...I don't think I could have been as brave as her. God knew what He was doing when He choose her.

  9. Mary was favored by God for her obedience, faith, and reverance. I knew she was a teenager, but how do you get this age? A very good devotional!!

  10. I absolutely love this song done by Harry Belafonte...thank you for sharing it!

  16. Hi Crystal Mary,

You have been in my thoughts, and I want you to know that you are important to me.

Mary certainly was a very brave young lady, young but wise beyond her years. We can all learn from following Mary's example.
