Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus || Spoken Word
I received this in an email and it spoke directly to my heart.
I was raised amid religious diversity and it can be so confusing to a child.
My grandfather carried a stick whenever he walked.
To my child understanding, this was to ease his journey.
One day he raised that stick to strike a man of a different belief.
That incident stuck in my heart! Surely God is love, not division.
Yet in Jesus days there were three major Jewish religions, who fought against each other.
I believe God had a sense of humour when he chose a Pharisee (Paul) to preach to the gentiles.
Paul stood no nonsense and even rebuked Peter for his actions. Galatians 2:11-21.
You know...in Ephesians 2:16 It Is Written.
"and that He (Jesus) might reconcile them both (Jews and Gentiles) to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity."
So Jesus put to death, the hostility between us all at His death.
We are ONE body in Christ..With Jesus as the head. When we believe in Him.

Late in 2008 I began to explore and enjoy the realm of creative writing. This is something which has always been an interest yet until now,I haven't found time to indulge.
God is the cornerstone of my home and heart. He is my life and my breath, for without Him I am nothing. My desire is to edify His existence in my daily walk through life. To inspire and encourage the broken hearted. And to assist in the knowledge that EVERYTHING has a reason and a purpose under the Heavens.
We are reminded through our faith in Jesus that He will, "Turn our Mourning into Dancing and our Sorrow into Joy." Psalms 30:11. Having personally experienced tough times I know, there is truly no gain without pain.

ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful weekend ~
TTFN ~
Hugs,
Marydon
AMEN!
ReplyDeleteMary, you sure have the gift of encouragement. Thanks so much for the supportive words on my blog. And I continue to believe with you that Jesus in me is stronger than anything else in me. Thank you for being a positive witness for our Lord. It is a bit funny how God chooses and uses certain characters in an un-characteristic way - Like Paul to the Gentiles - and remember that a very Jewish man named Peter was the first witness to the Gentiles - but only after the Lord revealed to him that he should call nothing that God had cleansed common or un-clean. I love this post.
ReplyDeleteI love this poem. It's been popping up on facebook a lot over the past week or so.
ReplyDeleteI grew up bound by religion and I'm loving the freedom of Jesus now.
xx
Me too mate.
DeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteI love that God put Paul in the Bible as a Disciple. He gives me hope! sandie
ReplyDeleteYes he does...he left the pomp of the Pharisees behind and became one of the Nazarene sect (following Jesus).
DeleteLove for all of God's people! That's what is in the heart of God.
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteMay we all set Christ is the example on how we live. I believe His grace is sufficient.
Have a lovely weekend!

How many times are our words as the walking stick your grandfather used? I agree with Humble Wife ... may we all set an example of Christ before others!
ReplyDeleteVery true!
DeleteHello Again!
ReplyDeleteI went over and read your husband's story with tears in my eyes. I love my country but wish for you to know that it is not only the soldier that carries and suffers. My father was KIA in Vietnam 2 months before I was born. Every day carries an emptiness as instead of a little girl longing for her father, I am now a mother of 3 adult children and one teen wishing my father would see my children and be proud of what I have done. When my oldest was in Afghanistan I feared the worst, as I know what the worst is. Mom never overcame his death although she lived until last February.
My love, hugs, and prayers to you both. I understand. I care. I will never forget those that gave all only to come home and not have the care needed. I have shared my story before here http://penofjen.blogspot.com/2007/04/in-honor-of-captain-david-p-gibson.html
Take care
Jennifer
