Dé·jà vu

I saw this photo on Facebook depicting fashions back in the nineteen twenties.
The first little girl on the left looks just like myself and my eldest daughter when we were of similar age.
I can't stop looking at it..
A shadow is cast over her face, and yet the look is still there..

Me (Crystal) at age 4.  Give me a bob haircut and a hat....
The same with my daughter Femia... turn her face the same way as the little model, and its her.
Maybe others can't see this, but as soon as I looked at that old photo, it was like seeing my daughter at that age. I then realised it also looked like myself. I had never considered Femia looked like me and yet now, in a photo, I can see it... I wish I had more photos of my children when they were young.

I Love You Femia.

  3. Years ago, there was a fellow around town who looked and dressed so similar to me that my first wife almost gave the wrong man a hug one day. Of course, who could blame her. He WAS a handsome devil! ;-)

  7. Good to meet you here in blogland! Thanks for the visit and your comment! I've been putting blogging on the back burner as there is so much else that requires my attention. I do post now and then. I'll link you to my reading list! I love photos of children - so interesting that there is such a similarity! Little squirmer in the middle wants to get away and then, also, the sun is very bright and they are squinting! Love how children were dressed then!

  8. Hi Crystal, You and Femia do look alike. That is so neat. I didn't have any girls --and my sons all look like their father..... SO--unless I have a granddaughter who looks like me, I'll just have to be happy just being ME.... ha

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  11. Dear Crystal, you're right! And your thoughts about not looking like your daughter brought back to me my own thoughts as a child when I thought I was adopted because no one in the family thought I looked like them.

Then in the convent, when I got the habit and the veil, the novice mistress gave me a crewcut. I suddenly realized that I looked just like my brother and I was overjoyed! Peace.
