MYSTERY in North East Tennessee

Love the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.

The music with banjo, guitar, fiddle, together with clog dancing.

STORY LINE OF MY NEW BOOK:

Who is the mystery healer concealed in the Great Smokey Mountains of East Tennessee? Why does he need to keep his identity a secret?

Marni Granger is a young woman who lives at the base of the mountain. As a child, falling against a hot cooking pot, she burns the side of her face. Being teased at school and later stared at as an adult, Marni remains living in isolation with her grandfather. Her one friend is a half wolf dog, rescued by her as a pup.

Marni would like a life similar to other young women, yet she feels all this will be denied her due to her facial deformity.

Heading off to the base of the mountains to pick berries, she wanders up and becomes lost in the dark. When her pet disappears, Marni is terrified and cries out to the Lord for help. A mysterious woman in white calls her name then leads her to a large cabin on the plateau.

Here she will meet a handsome man and the hidden surgeon who performs reconstruction operations, un-allowed in 1885.

Did you know that Davey Crockett's grandparents graves are in this town??
They were massacred by Indians.
Crockett Tavern in those days
The Crockett Tavern Museum is situated about 15 miles from Rogersville, at Morristown.

Davey Crockett's log cabin is also not far from Rogersville. In a different direction to Morristown.
I was amazed by it, built without a nail.. on a rushing river frontage. Take a picnic and spend the day.
How it looks now. (me there)

How it looked before.

Sitting looking over the Smoky Mountains, of North East Tennessee.

At the base of these mountains is Gatlinburg. Ray and I were married at Pigeon Forge -  close to there on 12th September 2004 by Rev Keith Leonard.

Psalm 96:11-12  (KJV)

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.
Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice.

My Time In America

I love thinking on my time in Rogersville, Tennessee as I believe I touched on some of Gods own country.
Our home sat nestled in the woods on three and a half acres, with squirrels, woodpeckers, wild turkey, skunk, deer and ONCE a black bear.
The most enchanting time was night, when all the fireflies appeared and lit up the woods like fairy lights.
The first time I saw them I couldn't believe it!
My fellow Ozzie friend Kerrie-Lyn, had a migraine headache and believed she was seeing lights.

Photo of our home towards the end of summer.

Fall came and I thought all the tree's had mysteriously died.
Can you imagine?  never having seen this before, I was mystified.
I don't like the look... its kind of sad.

We flew the American, Rebel and Australian flags..

Ray took me to Memphis, to see Graceland's.
My understanding of Elvis Presley, took on a whole new aspect with that visit.
I came to understand and like him. To me now, he was a caring, confused, manipulated man.
I believe Priscilla has done a great job of preserving his legion.

One of our many visits was to the Devils Tower at Wyoming.

 The badlands of South Dakota.

Then winter came..
I was sitting on the computer finishing off my psychology degree on-line from Australia when the first snow fell.
This was another surprise to me...
We do have snow in different area's of Oz. However, I have only been there for a week or so on  holiday.
Living with snow was another story.
Because the house was warm inside and not cold, I didn't realise that snow was falling.
When I did, it was the biggest treat, and naturally, the camera came out!

And at night it was magic.

I love you America, and all the people I befriended there.

ROGERSVILLE, TENNESSEE

There is no place like home and although I only lived and worked in Rogersville for three years, a piece of me remains there.
It is an historical town with quaint antique shops in the old section.
Established in the 1770's, it is one of the oldest towns in Tennessee.
I thought I was in Heaven when I first arrived because everyone was so sweet and kind. Driving on the opposite side of the road  was a little confusing at first, yet no-one lost their patience. They sat and waited, then with a friendly wave, saw me on my way....
It certainly was a learning process.

This was our home in the woods.
Amid the woodpeckers and squirrels.
It was enchanting to an Ozzie.
At the first sign of snow I ran around with the camera trying to capture all the white magic..
Living in the tropics of Queensland we don't see this in winter.

My church family.
It took a while to find somewhere I felt at home.
But I discovered CROSSROADS was the place to be.
( When you come to that place in your life, and you don't know which way to go. Take the road to the CHRIST )
Here I soon discovered, acceptance love and friendship with excellent teaching and wonderful singing and music.
About a year after I left, the precious church family came together for this photo.
They all got together to wave me hello....but a few are missing.
Prima and Zena, where are you??

On Roan Mountain.
It's not that far away and my hubby took me there to see it in the snow..
One word...BEAUTIFUL.!!

The staff of Amedisys Home Health.
A lovely group of girls and a pleasure to work with.
Lori our boss is seated on the bottom right with me standing on (R)behind her.
The best part of this work was everyone belonged to the Lord.
Much care and love is given out to the Patients.

Crystal and Nancy.
Everyone needs a good friend and mine was and still is, Nancy.
Both registered nurses we attended the same church, shared with each other and prayed together.
Nancy and her hubby John are special folk.
They give out of themselves and nothing is ever too much trouble.
True Believers.

It Is Written:
And he (JESUS) is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. (Colossians 1:18-20)
Praise His Holy Name.  Amen.
