WOW.. exciting and fast action. I had to review this amazing story. Loved it. It's full of surprises so be prepared for bedlam. A good story is when you can't figure out the why - or who did it??? 

And I couldn't. Charles Belmonte and down through the family their main worship is money, with no love for anyone, even family. NO! only themselves..


Great descriptions of characters and the spooky house they live in. This story reminded me of the Alfred Hitchcock's suspense of years ago, gosh it's spooky. If you like a good mystery with plenty of intrigue and action that comes into play as you read, and you can't take your eyes off the page, then don't miss this story. Detective Nina will take you with her to investigate and have you holding your breath. I'll glad I read it and I just HAD to write a review.. WOW! it takes your breath away. BUT, no spoilers.

Who is the mystery healer concealed in the Great Smokey Mountains of East Tennessee? Why does he need to keep his identity a secret?

Marni Granger is a young woman who lives at the base of the mountain. As a child, falling against a hot cooking pot, she burns the side of her face. Being teased at school and later stared at as an adult, Marni remains living in isolation with her grandfather. Her one friend is a half wolf dog, rescued by her as a pup.

Marni would like a life similar to other young women, yet she feels all this will be denied her due to her facial deformity.

Heading off to the base of the mountains to pick berries, she wanders up and becomes lost in the dark. When her pet disappears, Marni is terrified and cries out to the Lord for help. A mysterious woman in white calls her name then leads her to a large cabin on the plateau.

Here she will meet a handsome man and the hidden surgeon who performs reconstruction operations, un-allowed in 1885.

This was a refreshing light holiday read for me. My interest was centred on the two delightful young women who bond and spiritually grow together, whilst contributing to a community they adopt as their extended family.

There are no nasty dramatic highs or lows - just enough promises of intrigue and wholesome romantic attachments to peak the interest along the way and which unrolled into satisfactory outcomes.

There was a balance of men and women characters. Each were plausible individuals and endearing without being soppy nor unreal. Their life journeys gave the reader a clear idea of what godly character can be; what  spiritual growth can achieve.

A Christian reader could possibly relate to at least one of the common spiritual experiences presented authentically, such as when a character was seeking direction from God, had the desire for water baptism, or to commit to the use of a particular God-given gift.

The gospel message was clearly presented and was a credit to the author's ingenuity in how she wove it through the story's thread without giving the reader the impression of being "preached at".

The usual plot development of drama was not apparent.

Instead there was a pleasant ongoing sharing of everyday activities in various settings and contexts, romance without melodrama, and no involvement of villains.

It would probably be a safe recommendation for teenage girls or young at heart women seeking a holiday from the real dramas of this world.
