Christian Author Marshalee Patterson

This lovely young woman is Christian Inspirational author Mashalee Patterson.

Marshalee has just released her new book.

A SHATTERED LIFE RESTORED

EXCERPT

Meg sat staring out the window of Olivier’s car for the duration of the drive to the cemetery. Her silence kept him glancing back and forth at her with a worrisome look on his face. Not even a sob escaped her lips, and the heavy breathing he observed from her chest made him wonder what was going through her mind.

The cemetery was fifteen minutes away from Jeanne’s house, and the environment was quiet and peaceful. When Olivier stopped the car and turned off the ignition, Meg turned to look at him. Her eyes were watery, and one blink would cause the tears to start flowing. He was not sure what he could say to make her feel better— he wasn’t sure of what was said between her and Jeanne.

“I’ll wait here and let you go talk to Ernie,” he said hoping that would help somewhat.

Meg nodded and gave him a little smile before she pulled on the lock and exited the car. As she walked towards Ernie’s grave, she breathed deeply in and out to get her breathing back to normal. The sight of other graves made her think about all the family she had lost back home in Jamaica, her life now without Ernie with a baby on the way, and what Jeanne had just said to her.

She felt hopeless.

She stood in front of Ernie’s grave and stared down. The sight of dead flowers only caused her tears to flow. She fell to her knees and wept aloud.

“How will I make it without you, my sweet? Your smile was always like sunshine to me.  I need your strength for this baby, Ernie.” She sighed. “Would you believe what your mother said to me? She said I killed you, that I am carrying a bastard and that I was no good for you.”

Silence surrounded her, not a rustle of leaves from the nearby trees, or the chirping of birds. This made her tears flow even harder. No response, no Ernie. Meg leaned against the headstone, wrapped her arms around it and closed her eyes.

“I miss you Ernie, please come back to me. I don’t know what to do anymore. Everyone I care for is all gone.” She blinked back the tears. “I want our child to grow with joy and laughter, not sorrow and pain.”

After about twenty minutes, the wind began to blow sending leaves everywhere.  Meg kept her eyes closed, even as she felt something wet hit her cheek. She didn’t want to be away from Ernie or the place where his body lay.

“Meg!” Olivier shouted, rushing towards her.

She did not move.

He squatted down next to her the moment he approached her and pried her hands away from the headstone before she opened her eyes to take notice of the rain.

“Come on; let’s go before you get soaked.”

Meg wrapped her arms around Olivier’s neck as he scooped her up in his arms and then made a dash towards the car. By the time they made it to the car, the rain began to pour harder. Once inside, Olivier quickly switched on the heater to keep them warm.

“Are you alright?” he asked.

“No.”

~ About the Author~
Marshalee Patterson was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She has loved reading since she could walk. Growing up without a television sparked in her a love for reading and the world of imagination. Some of her favorite novels were written by Charles Dickens, Jane Eyre, and Victor Hugo, as she found she loved the true to life stories that we all can relate to. She wrote her first novella-Predestined Love after traveling to Italy and wanted to write a romance novel about it, only she didn’t know that God had plans for her and that story, when he changes the direction of what she originally had in mind.
It was then that she knew she was called to write stories to uplift and inspire readers, showing them how to find God in their struggles and the faith to trust Him through it. She is a lover of nature and the tranquillity of it. She finds the outdoors refreshing and peaceful. She loves different cultures, especially the Spanish, which she feels makes us learn to appreciate ours a little more in areas where we have been ungrateful or unappreciative. She loves salsa music very much and dances it well too. She is a proud Jamaican.

What the book is about in two sentences?
This book is about healing. Helping readers who have lost someone close and struggles to believe that happiness still exists for them. To give them hope that God has a plan for all of us even when they feel like they are cursed or abandoned.

The story is an inspiration to NEVER give up no matter what happens or how you feel. Because.... God has it all under control.

BLESSED by GOD to SERVE

As I age and look back at the bygone days it's difficult to realize the age I am today.

I am almost 74 years old. WHAT!! I don't feel that, however, I can see it in the mirror so I rarely look.

Where did that painfully shy teenage girl disappear?

The years have gone, (somewhere) and after forced to retire at 63 and mourning the fact, I began to write.

It's good to keep the mind active and for me, I enjoy writing what I hope, will uplift, encourage and inspire the reader.

Lately, I was contacted by the National Library of Australia in our capital city of Canberra. They requested one of my books.  Supposing they will request the rest, as I have now learned -  I have purchased them to post on.

In the six years of writing, I have finally given in to have a photo taken with six (there are five more) of my books. In years to come my children and grandchildren will perhaps enjoy to see it.

My son Peter, did the honors.

Whatever your gift - use it to bless others and proclaim Jesus as Lord.

"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." 1 Peter 4:10-11

My books contain something for every soul that has any aspiration to be more inspired in life. We all face trials, some bigger and some smaller. Yet in the end, its how we handle those problems. Do we become better because of the lessons learned, or do we become bitter and dry up in our potentials? My stories are about being VICTORIOUS!  Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Christian Author ~

Yes! I am a Christian author, and proud to be so.
Jesus Christ shed his blood, to redeem me from my sins.
So what can I do in return to thank him? I can be grateful and help others to see, the mercy of his goodness.
Perhaps you are someone who has been hurt by a church?
People hurt you, God did not!

However, he does give everyone a free choice and with that free choice some choose to be cruel, unkind and hurtful.....
But that is not of God.

As a Christian writer I choose to INSPIRE and ENCOURAGE.. ~~
I believe everyone of us needs that..

We can be better people ~ OR ~ Bitter people. I choose to be better.

Loving God ~ truly believing in Him ~ Heart ~ Mind ~ Soul ~ Strength ~
Makes you a kinder YOU.

We all have choices... Choose well~

Its not easy to be a Christian Author.... to write your heart, when some people criticize that.

I have just finished writing two more books, one is Fiction and the other Non Fiction.
They are both with editors now and I hope at least one is out by Christmas.
The Non Fiction with surprise everyone.  Yes, I have finally been able to write about my thirty years of abuse.
How can I still believe in God you may ask?
Because, I learnt to worship Him, instead of my abuser.
AND ~ in all truth, I made the choice.

I love this Bible verse.  I have used it to Encourage and Inspire myself for years.

Vision ~ Yes! We all need to have A vision NOW and always.

So, everyday when you arise, be thankful for all you have, because its God given.

I choose to remain in a marriage that was difficult for many reasons....
WHY ? ~ I now understand that I didn't have to.
It all comes down to choices.
I cannot blame others for my wrong choices.
BUT ~ I can now encourage others to make better ones than I did.

So, Be Inspired and be Encouraged and READ RIGHT!

SPEAK THIS OUT LOUD ~ I am Special, I am Blessed, I am beloved of God!
Gods Love for you is FREEly given, so FREEly receive.

My Author Page ~ Watch around Christmas for my new Book.

My Unshakeable Faith

I feel sorry for people who have never had, spiritual experiences.
My mother and grandparents, had a strong belief in our Creator God.
Yet as a child, I didn't fully comprehend, what they were on about.
I was sent to Sunday School, where I was taught much on Bible Stories, learned wonderful songs/hymns and how to recite scripture verses. However, this was all taught to my mind.
At the time, it didn't sink into my heart.
That was to say, not until in my late teens when I entered nursing. At this time I had a close friend, Yvonne, brought up by Salvation Army Officer parents. We both entered the same hospital, as well as doing everything else together. One evening Yvonne took me with her to a church rally. It was during the service that an alter call came, asking for people to give their lives to Christ. I broke down, I cried and cried as the congregation sang, "Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bidst me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come."

I vividly remember walking down that long aisle to kneel at the alter, and give my life to Christ.
Yet, my memory actually goes back before this, to a day when I heard a booming voice from the sky, call my name.
Nine years old and home alone on our small farm, I was out in the feed shed.
No radio or television was going and there was no one close by.
Yet my name was called so loudly, I ran outside and looked up.
I knew at that moment, God knew all about me.
Over the years I have had, numerous unexplainable experiences.

Another which stands strongly, was experienced following a difficult birth of my last child.
I was kept in hospital longer than normal, due to a thrombosis (blood clot) in my upper leg.
I also went into kidney failure which presented with swelling to my body and face.
Finally home again I felt very tired and extremely ill.

I felt alone because my then husband, was not a man who considered he should help.
One night, he went to play tennis. The baby lay in his crib at the side of the bed, and my other three children watched television.
I was weak and helpless. Laying back on the pillows I closed my eyes and prayed for Jesus to come and stand beside my bed.
Feeling a presence, and thinking it was one of the children, I opened my eyes.
Standing looking down at me was a tall man.
His white almost transparent robe covered his head. He held a Sheppard crook in His hand.
I couldn't see his face as it was shrouded in shadow.
As I stared transfixed, he walk towards the bedroom door and out into the well lit hallway.
Suddenly I remembered my prayer.

Yes! Jesus fulfilled my request, and came to me.
He came as a Sheppard who cares for his sheep.

My youngest baby, all grow up as a man today..  Lee-Joel and I.
